Electric and Acoustic Guitar with James Scholfield
Learning to play guitar is really about developing your musical ability so that you able to deal with any musical situation you find yourself in. There are many facets to being an all round guitarist which all stem from a desire to play and be part of the music. The fundamental elements that are necessary to improve as a musician are: dedication, discipline, self awareness, self criticism, ability to listen both to the music and to the people around you, a willingness to change, to take risks. Playing the guitar is about commitment, projection, expression There are many books and instructional DVDs out there, which can be helpful but at the same time can sometimes leave the student confused or overwhelmed. In our lessons I will offer a step by step approach to learning the guitar. We will cover the basics of playing many different styles and the theory behind it. I will help you to find your own personal practise routine suitable for the time available, which will help you to become the player you want to be through routine and continuity. All you need is your instrument and with a little bit of your time we will get you going.
Here is what the course will cover:
- Stylistic chord progressions, scales and cool licks to get your improvisation going.
- Basic theory and how to apply it to the guitar: the major scale and its fingerings, key signatures, intervals.
- Terminology: chord symbols and how to voice them on the guitar.
- Introduction to reading music and specifics to the guitar like the tablature chord system
- How to develop a practice routine that fits your personal schedule and that will help to create steady progress.
- Practical tips and tricks on how to play live, getting your guitar sound, how to prepare for a performance or how to get you ready for “sitting in” at a jam session.

Wer lernt Gitarre zu spielen, entwickelt seine musikalischen Fähigkeiten, um in jeder musikalischen Situation bestehen zu können. Ein echter all-round Gitarrist hat viele Facetten. All diese Facetten gehen zurück auf den Wunsch zu spielen und ein Teil der Musik zu sein. Um sich als Musiker weiter zu entwickeln, sind folgende Elemente unabdingbar: Hingabe, Disziplin, Selbstbewusstsein, Selbstkritik, die Fähigkeit sowohl der Musik und den Menschen um einem herum zuzuhören, die Bereitschaft sich zu ändern und Risiken einzugehen. Beim Gitarre Spielen geht es um Einsatz, Projektion und Ausdruck. Es gibt eine Vielzahl von Büchern und Lehr-DVDs, die durchaus hilfreich sein können aber genauso großes Potenzial haben, den Schüler zu verwirren.
Die Unterrichtsstunden führen die Schüler Schritt für Schritt an das Gitarre Lernen heran. Dazu zählen unter anderem das Spielen verschiedener Stile und deren Theorie. Ich helfe Ihnen, die für Ihren Zeitplan passende Übungsroutine zu finden. Durch Routine und Ausdauer werden Sie zu dem Spieler, der Sie sein wollen. Alles was Sie dazu brauchen, ist Ihr Instrument, ein wenig Zeit und los geht’s!
Kursinhalte:

- Praktische Tips und Tricks, um live zu spielen, Ihren eigenen Sound zu finden, sich auf einen Auftritt vorzubereiten oder an einer jam session teilzunehmen.
